Here's wishing you happiness, and health, and fun in your latest new digs. And love. I expect you'll know it when you find it. Sad that a family member would be the one to introduce her to drugs, but it was going to be somebody and, for whatever reason, she had the type of disposition where she couldn't break the addiction.Aging Gaylyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09886888900957765438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857795538755708479.post-47919828177791198172015-04-03T22:25:58.533-07:002015-04-03T22:25:58.533-07:00RG, I'm not sure you're aware of what real...RG, I'm not sure you're aware of what really happened to Whitney.

I watched an interview Oprah aired on OWN after Whitney died, when she spoke to Whitney's mom, Cissy, and her brother. For the longest time, I thought Bobby Brown had turned Whitney onto drugs. That seemed to make sense. But it wasn't the case at all.

Her brother admitted he's the one who started Whitney on drugs, because, as he said during the interview, it's what people did at the time, and he didn't consider what the effects would be on his sister.

Meanwhile, Cissy sat there and listened to her son admit his error, giving no reaction. Did she already know, or was she as stunned by this revelation as Oprah and viewers, like me, were? Who knows?

A very sad story, indeed. What a waste.

But you are right. We are all blessed that her work, particularly her early work, was left behind. And we are all the better for it.

Like I said in my previous comment, the memories. Back then, ...As always, thanks for reading, Rick.

Back then, I thought Whitney was the purest of pure. That first album was such a fresh discovery. So sad what happened to her. I remember hearing her speak at early awards shows and sensing there was no real emotion behind her words. She seemed so robotic, so programmable. Unfortunately, the wrong people got to her.

Still, nothing takes away from the joy of hearing all that talent, particularly in her early work.Aging Gaylyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09886888900957765438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857795538755708479.post-5722279973482919882015-04-02T19:29:15.477-07:002015-04-02T19:29:15.477-07:00Oh, RG, the memories. The memories.
How much time...Oh, RG, the memories. The memories.
How much time I spent with Whitney's album (and, later, CD) back then. How perfect I thought she was, in every way (that voice, that gorgeous face, those amazing teeth).
Your memory is extraordinary. Were we one and the same person back then? Might have been.
Thanks for the stroll down memory lane (sorry for the cliche), and for the laughs.
Amazing post. Loved it.Rick Modienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02157314737543591048noreply@blogger.com
